Andrea is currently completing a Masters Degree in Natural Sciences with a concentration in Biology. She also received a BA in 2020 where she did her undergraduate studies in biology. She earned both degrees in her current and hometown Las Vegas, New Mexico at New Mexico Highlands University. Her family is spread out through the north region with roots in Sena, NM all the way to Guadalupita, NM. She was constantly unsure of which direction of biology to take with interests in the biomedical science field as well natural sciences, but a passion for the outdoors in northern New Mexico lead her down a conservation-based path. Andrea likes to spend time with her family, you can often find her along with her three kids playing by the river. River ecology and habitat restoration have been her main interests. During the summer of 2022 she completed a directorate fellowship program with U.S fish and wildlife service obtaining baseline data for native bees in Mora and San Miguel counties. Andrea has passion for being outdoors and protecting what is left of our natural world. She looks forward to working directly with the MESA community.
