Once again the NM MESA West Region students had an opportunity to join in on another STEM event. On Friday, December 1st, Tohatchi MS and Mesa Alta Jr Middle school students participated in a day of great STEM events sponsored by the San Juan College School of Math, Science and Engineering. The students were able to see the amazing Planetarium, collect plants from the campus green house, identify tissue specimens in the Anatomy/Physiology Lab, and they toured the Biology department.
At this particular event MESA also recruited some special guests from North American Coal and Navajo Transitional Energy Company. They were able to tell us about the excellent job opportunities to the students in STEM. NTEC graciously provided lunch for the students and teachers who attended this event! MESA is definitely looking forward to partnering with NTEC to organize more STEM events in the West.
NM MESA would like to thank all the staff at San Juan College who worked hard in providing a great day of STEM fun for our students. We also would like to thank NTEC and North Americal Coal for taking the time out of their busy schedules to join us and most importantly, feed our MESA group for the day!
