Faculty and cadets from United States Military Academy West Point in New York traveled to NM MESA’s North Central Region last weekend to present a day of STEM workshops to MESA students from Bernalillo High School and Middle School. The group was also assisted by cadets and faculty from New Mexico Military Institute who made the journey from Roswell to collaborate.
Students learned Arduino programming and created a mood lamp, memory game, and distance detector. They also participated in a Leadership game and learned more about West Point. Special thanks to Jennylou Riel, Bernalillo HS MESA Advisor, for spending extra hours to make the event happen. Thanks also to Amy Tapia, former NM MESA board member, and Sandia National Laboratories for logistical support and for donation of food for the students!
