Volunteers for NM MESA:
The health and safety of the New Mexico MESA community is our top priority. As the Coronavirus (COVID19) situation continues to develop globally, and locally, NM MESA is diligently monitoring developments involving the virus and will continue to do so over the coming weeks and its impact on our stakeholders and events. We will continue to make all organizational decisions based on current information available.
With that in mind, the 2020 NM MESA Statewide Competitions have been affected as follows:
The MESA USA Statewide Competition scheduled for March 24, 2020 will be CHANGED to a virtual competition. This change will result in the virtual event occurring at a later date (Final Dates TBD, Week of April 6-9).
The MESA Day Statewide Competition scheduled for March 25, 2020 will be POSTPONED to a later time frame (late April-early May). If restrictions are continued throughout the remainder of the school year, NM MESA will re-evaluate and decide whether to fully cancel or modify the event. We are currently closing volunteer registration for this event and will resolicit if needed at a later time frame.
We feel these changes are in the best interest to comply with current school travel restrictions and to safeguard against the spread of the novel coronavirus.
With that, right now we are currently in need of the REVISED volunteer positions. If you are interested in any of the following please reply to me and I will change your role and keep you posted on final logistics.
- MESA USA Project Report Readers (6)-Readers will virtually grade submitted project reports during the revised time frame of 3/23/20-4/3/20. A maximum total time frame of 5 hours is estimated.
- MESA USA Academic Poster Judges (6)- Judges will virtually grade submitted academic posters during the revised time frame of 3/23/20-4/3/20. A maximum total time frame of 5 hours is estimated.
- MESA USA Technical Interview Judges (4-6)-This role is open to AFRL/KAFB Employees only. Judges will convene at the AFRL STEM Academy and will conduct virtual technical interviews with student teams. Date will be 1 day April 6-9 TBD; 8AM-4PM
- MESA USA Project Pitch Judges (3)- Judges will convene at the NM MESA Main Office and will grade virtual project pitches from student teams. Date will be 1 day April 6-9 TBD; 8AM-4PM
