03/12/2020 –

Parents and Students of NM MESA:

The health and safety of the New Mexico MESA community is our top priority. As the Coronavirus (COVID19) situation continues to develop globally, and locally, NM MESA is diligently monitoring developments involving the virus and will continue to do so over the coming weeks and its impact on our stakeholders and events. We will continue to make all organizational decisions based on current information available.

With that in mind, the 2020 NM MESA Statewide Events have been affected as follows:

The MESA USA Statewide Competition scheduled for March 24, 2020 will be CHANGED to a virtual competition.  Information will be sent to all participating schools regarding logistics and technology capabilities within the next week (3/16/20-3/20/20) as we research the best possible methodologies.  This change will result in the virtual event occurring at a later date (through April 10).

The MESA Day Statewide Competition scheduled for March 25, 2020 will be POSTPONED to a later time frame (late April-early May).  If restrictions are continued throughout the remainder of the school year, NM MESA will re-evaluate and decide whether to fully cancel or modify the event.

All other NM MESA state events, regional events and fieldtrips will also be postponed, cancelled, or modified to meet the current State of Emergency and school district travel restrictions.  We feel these changes are in the best interest to comply with current school travel restrictions and to safeguard against the spread of the novel coronavirus.  Our main focus is and always will be the well-being of our MESA students, advisors and staff.  Additional changes to the NM MESA events and program will be communicated with the utmost importance.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact Anita Gonzales or any NM MESA Staff Member.
