01/17/2019 –
Van Buren Middle School and other participating schools from around the state rocked the regional Future City Competition at UNM’s School of Architecture + Planning this January 12th. The Future City Competition helps kids to envision their world and put the effort into making it happen!
From the Future City Competition website: The 2018-2019 theme is Powering Our Future! Teams will design a resilient power grid for their future city that can withstand and quickly recover from the impacts of a natural disaster.
Future City Competition is focused on tackling challenges of our infrastructure and natural resources. Because New Mexico’s ecosystem, climate, and culture are so diverse and unique, growing the next generation of innovators requires not only creative minds, but also teamwork, planning, and communication skills.
The Future City finals will be held on February 19th, 2019 in Washington D.C.
