05/14/2018 –
Simon Armijo from Carlsbad High School was chosen to be the 2018 recipient of the Devon Achievement Award. This award is given each year to a graduating senior from a NM MESA program in Eddy or Lea County. This is a $20,000 award to cover four years of college ($2,500 per semester for eight semesters) as long as minimum requirements are met. The student must be seeking a major related to a career in the oil and gas industry.
Simon has been a very active MESA student for seven years. He plans to seek a degree in Electrical Engineering at either NM Tech or NMSU. He has been very involved in robotics during his time with NM MESA and foresees a future involving robots that will significantly benefit the oil & gas industry.
Congratulations to this young man.
