Description of Sessions
Each MESA program will be placed in one of four groups and will rotate among four different workshops.
Learn to Code with Swift Playgrounds – Presented by James Sanborn of Santa Fe Creative Coding Initiative. They will provide all materials to explore this exciting platform. Lots of hands-on interaction.
MESA Day Handbook – Our annual deep dive into the most important guidelines for our MESA Day competition. This year will include a special activity relating to technical drawing and students’ blueprints of their model community centers!
Science on a Sphere/Astronomy – The Science on a Sphere Theater at SFCC is the only one of its kind in New Mexico. It projects images onto a white sphere, six feet in diameter and suspended from the ceiling. These images invite viewers to both learn and step back in awe of the beauty and complexity of our Earth. Students will see a presentation and also have an opportunity for solar viewing outside with special telescopes (weather permitting).
STEM Careers & Demos – Learn about the exciting world of STEM careers. Demos and tours all around. Students will see the SFCC Greenhouse and Biofuels programs in the Trades and Advanced Technology Center and will have the opportunity to talk to professionals about college and career possibilities.
