Thank you for volunteering with us for our 2025 MESA Day Competitions on April 30, 2025.  We will host close to 900 students and teachers for a full day of STEM Competition. 

This year our MESA Competition Day will host (2) Competition Tracks, MESA Day and MESA USA. Both tracks will run concurrently during the same event. Please note some guidelines are different for each track.

All of our MESA Day events will address the topic of “Health & Well Being in Our Communities” as Goal #3 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). NM MESA schools are invited to participate in our MESA Day Track as follows:

  • On Site Team Competition-MESA Mayhem
  • On Site Mini Competition-MESA Fit
  • On Site Mini Competition-Visualize Your STEM Identity
  • Prepared Design-Building a Healthy and Sustainable Community Center

All of our MESA USA events will address the topic of “Designing for Equity Locally to Affect Sustainability Globally” and teams are required to incorporate a coding element in their prototype and use a chosen UN-SDG to inspire their prototype. NM MESA schools are invited to participate in our MESA USA Track as follows: Academic Poster, Design Proposal, Technical Pitch, and Symposium

MESA DAY TRACK:

MESA Day On Site Team Competition-MESA Mayhem

This full team challenge course will involve a variety of skill sets and cooperation. Multiple spirited STEAM challenges will be highlighted throughout this event!

  • Full and Half Day Judge Roles Available: 8:00 AM-3:30 PM, 8:00 AM-11:30 AM, 12:00 PM-3:30 PM

MESA Day On Site Mini Competition-MESA Fit

Students will use a variety of STEM skills to explore how they relate to physical fitness. 

  • Full and Half Day Judge Roles Available: 10:00 AM-1:00 PM (Middle School), 2:00 PM-5:00 PM (High School), 10:00 AM-5:00 PM

MESA Day On Site Mini Competition-Visualize Your STEM Identity

Teams will work together in a creative way to show is their STEM vision.

  • Full and Half Day Judge Roles Available: 10:00 AM-1:00 PM (Middle School), 2:00 PM-5:00 PM (High School), 10:00 AM-5:00 PM

MESA Day Prepared Design-Building a Healthy & Sustainable Community Center

Student teams will design (1) community center with supplemental materials, meeting the criteria outlined in the rules. Volunteers will assess the completion of the required task. 

  • Full Day Judge Roles Available: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

GENERAL VOLUNTEERS:

Registration Volunteers

Volunteers will help to check in student teams, student projects, and volunteer judges.

  • Part Day Roles Available: 7:00 AM-10:00 AM

MESA USA TRACK:

MESA USA Technical Pitch

Teams will demonstrate their prototype and participate in a presentation highlighting the technical aspects of their prototype. 

  • Full Day Roles Available: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

MESA USA Poster Symposium

Teams will participate in an interview discussion on their project.

  • Full Day Roles Available: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

MESA USA Design Proposal

Teams will submit in advance a preliminary plan for their design. 

  • Advance VIRTUAL Judging: Done asynchronous during 4/14/25-4/28/25, 5 Hours Max Time

MESA USA Academic Poster

Teams will submit in advance a visual representation of their project by means of an academic poster. 

  • Advance VIRTUAL Judging: Done asynchronous during 4/14/25-4/28/25, 5 Hours Max Time

Breakfast, Lunch, and Parking will be provided for all in person volunteers.
