Kim Allen Scheerer, EdD
Regional Coordinator
Kim moved to New Mexico’s middle Rio Grande valley in 2006. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Alma College in Michigan and a Masters of Applied Science, Marine Biology from James Cook University in Townsville, Australia. She graduated with her doctorate (EdD) from the Educational Leadership program at UNM’s College of Education & Human Sciences. Read Kim’s research on Project-based Learning Education in New Mexico in the 2023 New Mexico Journal of Science, volume 57.
Kimi is a former PADI Dive Master and volunteer at Albuquerque Aquarium’s Invertebrate Touchpool. Prior to joining the MESA team, she worked as an Educational Coordinator along the Rio Grande valley & bosque, and with various environmental education field programs in the Southeast and Caribbean.
Kimberly defines her strengths as the biological sciences and creative engineering, but is interested in and enthusiastic about related STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, ART & Mathematics) education. She enjoys water experiences, nudibranchs, picnics, gardening, meandering with her rambunctious dog & partner, and traveling!
