Dec 11, 2015 –
It all started when Cochiti Middle School MESA student, Theron Coriz and his brother Justin decided that instead of receiving Christmas presents this year, they would like to GIVE food and presents to homeless people in Albuquerque. They put together some care packages, each containing snacks, socks, gloves and a personalized note. The boys were recognized by the “Pay it 4ward” program at KOB-TV in Albuquerque, as well as the Governor of Santo Domingo Pueblo, who gave them money to continue their work, as well as personal money for college.
On December 8th, the MESA program at Cochiti Middle School continued the project. Advisor, Vania Meetze and her MESA students travelled to Albuquerque to deliver 20 bags of soap, granola bars, gloves, socks, water, and a note from MESA students, to homeless people…and they visited KOB-TV to tell their story! Congratulations to Theron and Justin, Mrs. Meetze, and all the Cochiti Middle School MESA Students!!
