MESA students from Albuquerque High School, West Mesa High School and Valley High School joined regional coordinator Kim Scheerer and her dog Sophie at Tingley Beach on Saturday.  Our group hiked along the back trails of Tingley Beach’s bosque (or riverside forest) as a part of the City of Albuquerque Open Space National Public Lands Day event!  Our goals were to learn about the local bosque ecosystem and clean up our community open space.

We weaved through the willows along the banks of the Rio Grande, we circumnavigated the Army Corps. of Engineers wildlife sanctuary ponds and we made the world a prettier place with gloves, trash bags and teamwork!

Join our next community service hike back at Tingley Beach on Saturday, Oct. 17th, click here for more details!
