STEAM Equity & Inclusion

Where: Vista Grande Community Center – Sandia Park, NM OR Explora! in Old Town, Albuquerque

Choose a date to visit either Sandia Park or Explora!  If you choose the extended day opportunity, we will engage in spring-time delight through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, ART and mathematics) equity and inclusion practices.  This professional development workshop will highlight New Mexico data, engaging STEAM activities and working with multi-cultural STEM students in innovative ways.

Our Explora! day with have a shortened format without the STEAM Institute focus.  Both days will include MESA end-of-the-year details and discoveries.  Information about the following, will be provided:

  • Spring time MESA events!
  • Loyalty Awards (honor cords & certificates), student Leadership awards and teacher stuff.
  • 2017-2018 school year planning

Tuesday, April 18th 9:30 am – 2:30 pm at Vista Grande CC (multi-purpose room); OR

Thursday, April 20th 1:00 am – 4:00 pm at Explora (community room), Old Town

* Tuesday to include a picnic LUNCH with snacks & bevies!
** Tuesday: car pooling is encouraged!
*** Thursday to include afternoon snacks and bevies!

To expect: camaraderie with your colleagues, insightful activities & engaging conversation

To bring: a water bottle, good attitude & layers of clothing (hat, sunglasses, etc.)

Bonus: Brain Hackers Association guest speaker Chris Forsythe & Explora education staff.  Explora! will overview the community Cradle through Career STEM Learning Strategic Focus initiative.

To include: $25 stipend, a delish lunch and/or snacks, plus teacher delights and creative give-aways!
