****ALL ATTENDING STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE PRE/POST EVENT ASSIGNMENT.

Students from Mesa Vista Middle School and High School, Santa Fe High School, Pecos High School, and Capshaw Middle School  will travel to Tesuque Pueblo on two separate dates for a fun day of learning.

The group will start their morning with some volunteer work on the farm at the Tesuque Agricultural Initiative. Spring planting on the way and there’s lots of work to be done!

STUDENTS AND ADVISORS-PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN LUNCHES. There will not be an opportunity to leave and buy anything.

Also, please wear appropriate WORK clothing.

During the afternoon, the MESA group will participate in an informational workshop by Emigdio Ballon, founder of the Tesuque Agricultural Initiative. Originally from Bolivia, Mr. Ballon is a plant geneticist who specializes in quinoa and amaranth production and he has much to share with young students. The farm produces traditional crops of the pueblo, herbal medicines, many varieties of fruit, grains, and a few non-traditional crops including over 10,000 asparagus plants! They also have ten beehives which provide essential pollination, and they share honey and beeswax with the pueblo community.

Here is the official AGENDA.
