Saturday, May 10, 2014; 4:45 am to 10 pm CO/CI Mesa Verde National Park – Seniors Only Fieldtrip!


Saturday, May 10, 2014 leaving at 4:45 am from the main parking lot in front of West Mesa HS (6701 Fortuna Rd NW, ABQ). Estimated time of return is 10 pm.

ADVISOR INSTRUCTIONS:Distribute trip forms and collect them by Wednesday, April 23, 2014.  From the forms received select up to 10 seniors from your MESA program (waitlist another 5, if necessary), rank them in order of who is “most” to “least” deserving using number of years in MESA and level of activity.  Write the names in order on the school registration form and indicate if you are willing (and able) to chaperone (only 5 advisors will be selected; this is a strenuous trip with hiking and climbing ladders).  Fax or email the school registration form and ALL the student forms by 9 am on Friday, April 25, 2014 to Bonnie/Shaundina.

Mesa Verde National Park – Colorado!

“Mesa Verde, Spanish for green table, offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made it their home for over 700 years, from A.D. 600 to 1300. Today the park protects nearly 5,000 known archeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings. These sites are some of the most notable and best preserved in the United States.” – From

 Departure Time: 4:45 AM (Like waaaaaay early in the morning) J

 Departure Location:  Meet at West Mesa HS (6701 Fortuna Rd NW, ABQ – just off Coors Blvd south of I-40)

 Agenda: 4:30 am – light breakfast at West Mesa HS, 4:45 am – depart and travel to Colorado, 10 am – 3 pm tour Mesa Verde National Park, 5 pm – Dinner at Furr’s in Farmington/ back to ABQ, 10 pm – estimated return time. 

  • Light breakfast and lunch (PB&J, fruit, chips, and water) provided.
  • Each participating school will bring snacks for 60 people.
  • Bring $$$$ money for dinner at Furr’s in Farmington and any spending money you need – $20-25.
  • Pack water and snacks
