MESA is need of mentors and judges on November 4, 2014.
Volunteer as a judge at our Central Inner Rally, to be held at Albuquerque Balloon Museum on Tuesday, November 04, 2014 (tentatively scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) A minimum of 2 hours will be required and exact times of those events will be determined soon to those interested.
Here is a brief overview about the competition and each event: The event will be a fun opportunity to interact with students interested Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. There are three events in which students will be working on and competing.
- On Site Challenge Brain and Nervous System – This project is based on teamwork and creative problem solving skills which allows the students to work collaboratively with each team member to be able to define a set of Brain terms and point out terms on a visual 3D module.
- Prepared Prosthetic Arm Challenge – This project is based on mechanical power and the goal is to have a working device that will move and throw objects up to 3-5 feet. This event will consist of students using their innovative ideas in engineering a project.
- Prepared Technology Alice World – Students will work on a program designed by Duke University. This computer game program is similar to SIM City and students complete 8 levels by February state competition. In this event students don’t need to have prior programming knowledge to use Alice World because this program teaches students the programming component.
I thank you for your time and effort and know that, by working together, we can continue to support Central Inner New Mexico’s students as they pursue their educational and professional goals.
